Der öffentliche Raum. Theoretische Ansätze und Feldstudien in Zürich

Fall Semester 2001

The elective course combines practical and theoretical perspectives on public space. Students discover and research specific public spaces in the city of Zurich using small case studies. The research work is based on a set of different social science methods, which will be introduced in the course. Based on the questions arising from the case studies, various social science texts on the analysis of public space will then be read and discussed. The aim of the elective course is to use these theoretical approaches to create a small typology of public space in Zurich.
