Theorien zur Stadtentwicklung

Theories on Urbanisation

This book is the result of a collective diploma thesis that was ultimately rejected by the Geography Department at the University of Zurich – but was then published as a book. The team of the Ssenter for Applied Urbanism, an activist group inspired by the urban revolt in Zurich in the early 1980s, wanted to understand the mechanisms and principles of urbanisation, and thus wrote this book. This is also the first comprehensive overview in German of the critical and neo-Marxist theories on the city by Henri Lefebvre, David Harvey and Manuel Castells. On this basis, the authors developed their own theoretical approach.
