Dr. Hannah Widmer

Han­nah Wid­mer joi­n­ed the Chair of Socio­lo­gy in 2024 as a lec­tu­rer. She is also a post­doc­to­ral rese­ar­cher at ETH Wohn­fo­rumETH CASE at the Depart­ment of Archi­tec­tu­re, ETH Zurich. As a socio­lo­gist and human geo­grapher her rese­arch focu­ses on the influence of envi­ron­men­tal and ener­gy poli­ci­es on housing ine­qua­li­ties, regio­nal effects of housing shorta­ges, pro­ces­ses of inclu­si­on and exclu­si­on in public spaces, the effects of the built envi­ron­ment on the use of public spaces, and dis­cour­ses on real­lo­ca­ting road space. Han­nah Wid­mer holds a PhD in Geo­gra­phy from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Lau­sanne and a master’s degree in Socio­lo­gy and Eco­no­mics from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Zurich.
